30) Binging

Like many Janathoners, I have a busy job, but it's a busy job that I love and I'm fortunate that the uncompromising hours are offset by some pretty generous holidays. In term time, it's so easy to say, "I can't go training, I've got too much to do". Then the holidays get here and I go bonkers for a week until I end up knackered, injured or both. Lovely boyfriend refers to this cycle as "binge training".

Let's be honest now, Janathon has been one long training binge; however, this has been far more useful than any training binge I've ever been on before. By doing Janathon, I've learned that I can go training in term time; in fact, I can do so much more than go training in term time. I'm really looking forward to February, not so that I can have a rest from running, but because I'm excited to see what a "normal" week might look like. What I really hope is that it's going to look a whole lot different to what a normal week had become last year.

According to my totals on RunningFree, I have run for 27 hours, cycled for 12 hours and swum for 2 hours so far this month. That adds up to a crude estimate of 27610 kcal burned (using this website); that could be cancelled out by one heck of a binge:

  2. We need perspective on the size of that cake. Here's a clue - it's not yer average cupcake and it can cover a head.

    Still slightly scared that it's over 8,000 calories - yipes!

    Seriously impressive running today. Ron would be proud.

  6. Whilst I was totally hanging in the gym this morning I was trying to estimate how many calories I consumed in cake last night and work out whether or not I'd off set my cake calorie intake.
    Needless to say I gave up trying to do the maths after a while.
    I think that I probably did. Just ;)
    Such good cake though. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
