8) Dreamtweeting

About 4 miles into my run today, I saw an abandoned bed plonked on the cycle path. Someone must've known I'd be doing my "long" run today and put it there to tempt me. The will was strong though and, with Ron's help, I carried on past, cursing myself for not bringing a camera. It reminded me that I'd not been sleeping quite so soundly since Janathon started and that I'd had a particularly odd dream earlier this week.

To set the scene, I was a bit nervous about the old "using Twitter" bit of signing up for Janathon. You see, I've never really understood it. I had a brief fling with it some months ago and made one short and meaningless tweet. I regretted it almost immediately and promised I'd save my tweeting for something more special. Then Janathon came along. My innocence may have been lost but my inexperience remained and I wondered if the Janathon tweeps would want anything to do with me; however, they have been pretty patient as I fumble about with hashtags, @ signs and panicked mis-typing of "your/you're".

To be honest, Twitter still mystifies me and it had clearly been playing on my mind because I woke up in the wee small hours on Tuesday morning having a twitter dream. I kid you not. I think Janathon might be taking its toll, folks. Reading the blogs of our cosy little Janathon community went someway to reassure me that I'm not the only one struggling to sleep; I've read more than one reference to hallucinatory haiku and JogBlog posted on Wednesday about her insomnious iambic pentameter. Since we're all friends now, I thought I'd share what it was that I was tweeting about in the land of nod:

Some time later...

I may not be a fully fledged tweeter but I am most definitely a twit.

Day 8 - Long, dreamy run
Distance: 8.5 miles
Time: 1:38:32
Pace: 11:34 min/mile
Cake rating: 5/5 (a bed, blue sky, white fluffy clouds and a little bit of sunshine)

Cumulative Janathising: 35.7 miles

  1. Love it!
Realised reading this quite how little I understand about twitter. Am going to try and do better!

  2. Ha you're quite new to twitter to be getting the dreams... usually those are reserved for the true addicts! Don't worry though, only been following you a short time but you seem to be doing superbly. :)
I really like the illustrations you put in your blogs btw. I'm nowhere near a designer but consider myself to be fairly well-versed in computery things and I would really struggle to create these. Impressive stuff... like your very long run today!

  3. I hate twitter.....but I do love your blogs xxx

  4. Amazing and all I dreamt about was that I was covered in flea bites - now whats that all about? Lucky you having Daniel Craig in yours

  5. magnificent. is there a twitter for twits book I can read. i don't get it.

  6. lol! love it! Good work on the mileage today too... and for resisting that bed. You're doing better than me on twitter, i was shown how to use it this morning, but have still been too scared to actually venture into the world of tweeting!

  7. Twitter scares me too - what are all the # and @ about? Anyway fab run and funny blog as always! Well done.

  8. I've just been reading through your 'back catalogue' since jan 1st and I've just made it this far, even realised i'd commented on an earlier post but for some reason had missed the rest until recently. I'm now going to be late for work thanks to you. I don't know how you do what you do, but i'm glad you do it. I shall resume post-reading upon my return from work.
