4) 3 courses

Day 4 of Juneathon was a race day.

If you're not already familiar with it, triathlon is a multi-sport event where competitors participate in 3 sequential endurance events. Races may take a variety of forms, but a standard layout is normally adopted and events tend to vary, instead, by distance.

I got off to a strong but splashy start and showed some pleasing perseverance in the first discipline. Transition was smooth and it wasn't long before I was away on the second stage: generally considered the most technical of all three disciplines, it required presence of mind and a some clever tactics to gain a strong position in the field. The final stage can be a bit of a slog, especially if you've bitten off more than you can chew earlier in the event. A focused mind and some gritty determination are needed to complete this most grueling of events.

Oh yeah, I also did Blenheim Triathlon. That was fun but there were no poppadoms.
