Cake of what?

Do you love cake? I do.

I love sport too.

The two don't have to be mutually exclusive, you know. It's all about balance and a sense of fun. Read on and I'll show you how.

A life-long runner (not always voluntarily), reformed rower, fair-weather cyclist, and born again swimmer: the balancing act has rarely come easily. It rarely does now.

A spell of exercise-induced apathy after an injury was enough to make me realise exactly what I was missing though. That's when I started this blog to give my withering self-motivation a kick up the bum and train for another marathon. It took me a while but I got there. I'm now up to 14 marathons, a couple of ultras, and an ironman or two. I've also made some wonderful friends along the way and written about that too.

Fun is always my priority. There are no such things as bad races, just good stories, and I will make it my mission to find the funny side, no matter how tough it gets.

Just like the cake, my racing ambitions seem mostly based on a principle of biting off more than I can chew. I tend to keep going though, with a resolute determination and a smile on my face.

I write about it all here and, when words fail me, I draw a diagram.

  1. I'm so glad you found my blog, so that I could find yours! I love it! Can't wait to read through your posts!

  2. Can I second the above? Yay for running-induced cupcake-orgies. That's the main reason why I run! :)
